Bio
James Kelly is a DJ, composer, performer, scholar and teacher. James’ creative work explores the use of the turntable as an instrument. He pioneered the use of a vinyl disc cutting lathe as part of the compositional process in order to create turntable music and has worked in popular and experimental music as well as academia.
He toured the UK as a DJ with Ginger Snaps, Ola Szmidt and Pure Phase. As a composer and audio engineer, interdisciplinary projects have included film score production for the feature film, Honeytrap (2014), the contemporary dance film Cynefin (2011) and a solo sound art exhibition at the Avenue Gallery, University of Northampton, UK (2016).
