OVERVIEW

The “Producer/Engineer Lab” is a hands-on course that will teach you how to make your own music sound like Top 40 hits. You will learn the synergy between music production, mixing and mastering through working on your own song, using your laptop and software. During each session, you will have dedicated time to get feedback on your progress and also learn from others in the group. By the end of this course, you will have the know-how shared by international music producers behind chart topping hits.

Miklos Malek is an American-Hungarian music producer, mixing / mastering engineer and songwriter. He has worked on projects by Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez, Armin Van Buuren, Anastacia, Aloe Blacc, Pixie Lott and Yanni. In his 30 years of experience, he has worked as a performer, musician, composer, arranger, mixer, mastering engineer and also an X-Factor judge on television. Along the way, he run into many obstacles and questions that nobody was able to help him with. So, he went and figured out all the answers himself & those answers are what he wants to share with you.

Music producers, musicians, DJs who do it all: produce, record, mix and master their own music

Acceptance is based on submitted 2-4 fully produced songs
Having access to a laptop+DAW+headphones they can bring to class, microphone + sound card, the ability to make basic sound recordings and create basic arrangements

How to build a radio-ready production

Basics (concept, vibe, tempo, key, form)
Main building blocks (drums, bass, main instrument, topline)
Extras (counterpoint, texture, ear candy)
Anatomy of hit productions (groove, energy, emotions, clarity, space, the concept of “less is more”)
Arranging and producing with mixing and mastering in mind
