OVERVIEW

The course is designed to introduce students to the camera, acquiring practice and guidance towards video proficiency increasing their ability to perform under real-time pressure and have a deeper understanding of video gear and their various uses and how they lead to a faster more intentional turnaround.

Week 1
Session 1 & 2: Introduction to Video and the Brief

Understanding the lineage of video from film
Introduction to the video workflow
How to interpret and respond to a client brief
Exploring types of video projects (e.g., weddings, interviews, events)
Aligning aesthetic and informational goals

Week 2
Session 1 & 2: Camera Theory – Lighting – Composition

Camera and lens theory
Natural and artificial lighting techniques
Cinematic composition basics
Introduction to practical audio recording
