OVERVIEW

An advanced filmmaking course designed for creators aiming to strengthen their skills in directing, screenwriting, and producing. This hands-on program takes participants through the full production journey, including concept development, visual storytelling, script writing, budgeting, casting, and pitching. With a strong focus on industry-standard tools and practical techniques, the course concludes with students creating a polished short film concept and a professional pitch deck ready for festival submissions. Ideal for those looking for film production training in the UAE, filmmaking workshops in Dubai, or advanced creative media courses.

Week 1: Visual Storytelling & Concept Development

  • Understanding the director’s eye: visual language and storytelling
  • Storytelling through (lighting, art direction, and cinematography)
  • Story structures & idea development
  • Character arcs & thematic depth
  • Group ideation for individual short film concepts

Week 2: Screenwriting & Script Breakdown

  • Scene construction, dialogue, subtext
  • Writing with production in mind: locations, cast, budget
  • Script formatting & revisions
  • In-class writing exercises & peer review

Week 3: Directing & Pre-Production

  • Working with actors: rehearsal strategies & directing performance
  • Storyboarding & shot lists
  • Casting techniques & scene blocking
  • Production management: locations, permits, gear, crew

Week 4: Producing & Pitching

  • Budgeting, scheduling & contingency planning
  • Building a pitch deck (logline, synopsis, treatment, director’s vision)
  • Presentation skills for creative pitching (Networking and Film festival circuits)
  • Sales, distribution, and film festivals
  • Final pitch presentations with peer and instructor feedback
