The course is designed to introduce students to the camera, acquiring practice and guidance towards video proficiency increasing their ability to perform under real-time pressure and have a deeper understanding of video gear and their various uses and how they lead to a faster more intentional turnaround.

Introduction to Video and the Brief

Understanding the lineage of video from film
Learning video workflow and client brief interpretation
Exploring different video project types (events, interviews, weddings)
Planning and executing shot sequences

Week 2
Camera Theory – Lighting – Composition

Practical camera and lens theory
Natural and artificial lighting techniques
Cinematic composition and framing
Basic audio recording principles

Week 3
Camera Movement, Gimbals & Lenses

Understanding gimbal mechanics and balance
Executing complex handheld and gimbal movements
Exploring lens types and their practical use

Camera Workshop

Applying all learned concepts in a guided shoot
