What you need to know about this Masterclasses

SAE Dubai’s Masterclasses are a limited and exclusive set of programs designed to work in parallel with the SAE Bachelor of film, with the following aims:

  • To enhance the skillsets of prospective practitioners who are passionate about pursuing a career in the film industry.
  • To create a focus on specific disciplines in film making so participants can have a complete and immersive experience.
  • To provide participants with unique insights and opportunities to break into the local production industry.

Each trimester, Masterclasses will be offered in two topics, with each Masterclass comprising of 4 sessions of 3 hours each, for a total of 12 hours per topic.

Additionally, Masterclass participants will have access to several on-set opportunities relevant to their discipline.

 

Instructors

The Masterclasses will be conducted by top-level industry professionals, who will also act as mentors to the students and provide them with industry networking opportunities. Instructor selections will be based upon their availability.

 

Directing & Cinematography: Frederico Beja

With over 10 years experience in Film, Portuguese-born Frederico Beja, 36, holds a masters degree in Filmmaking - Directing - by the New York Film Academy – Universal Studios, California. Before that, he studied in Portugal, focusing in the theoretical part of film and TV at the School of Arts, Porto.

After a few years living in California, Fred took on an adventure to explore his career in the middle-east, first on an academic / University level (he was the Head of Film and TV Department at SAE Institute Jordan for 2 years), and later on the production side, having directed commercials for clients such as Coca-Cola, Ikea, and Nissan. He’s been also working as cinematographer, having filmed more than a dozen documentaries for Al Jazeera (Documentary and International), as well as fiction TV content (TV series for local channels).

Fred has taught Film Studio 1 and Film Studio 3 on a freelance basis at SAE Dubai.
