Sound for Film: Creating the Soundtrack
This master class will introduce historical, theoretical and aesthetical concepts related to the creation of a film's soundtrack. It will address authors like Michel Chion and Claudia Gorbman by dissecting some of their work. We will discuss the analysis of the production process and of the transmitted message.
We will dwell on sound transformation, sound editing and will show visual examples of traditional techniques like Silence, Sound Masking, Interior Sounds, Overlapping, Anticipation, “Split Second”, “Mickey Mousing”, “Leit Motif”.
