Undertake a bachelor of Film at SAE to learn the creative and technical aspects of film making and experience our innovative, hands-on environment. Build your creative confidence and develop artistic independence.

SAE teaches both the traditional skills of film making and puts you at the forefront of the technologies shaping the future of the craft.

In trimester 4 choose your specialisation in:

1. Production, with units in:

  • Directing
  • Producing

2. Post Production, with units in:

  • Editing
  • Compositing
  • Colour grading

Degree Entry Requirements

Note: If you are applying from outside the UAE please contact the SAE Institute in your country to confirm your equivalent educational standing or contact SAE directly.

  • minimum age 17;
  • completion of year 12 high school certificate (HSC) or its equivalent ; or
  • mature age students over 21 years; or
  • on receipt of suitable evidence, SAE shall seek to admit all prospective students (via special entry) who are considered to have a reasonable chance of success in the programme.

English Language Requirements

International students have to provide additional evidence of language skills and complete one of the following:

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): A band score of 6 or higher for a Higher Education (HE) course and 5.5 or higher for a VET course (only the Academic Test is accepted), OR
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): A score of 550 or higher (paper based test), 60 or higher (internet based test) for a Higher Education (HE) course and a minimum score of 527 (paper based test) or 46 (internet based test) for a VET course, OR
  • International Second Language Proficiency Rating (ISLPR): An overall rating of 3, OR
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE): Academic score of 50 (or higher) for a Higher Education (HE) course, and an Academic score of 42 (or higher) for a vocational education program, OR
  • Completion of Year 12 English at an Australian secondary school or college or equivalent with a minimum result of “Satisfactory” or equivalent.

Assessment Method and Award

Practical

Will involve progressive assessment and submission of studio logs

Theoretical

  • All Bachelor students must undertake a written
    research project; and
  • Pass and complete all individual degree modules

Award

In order to qualify for the Bachelor degree, candidates need to reach an overall mark of 240 credit points.

Australian Accreditation

This program is quality assured by SAE Australia and the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA), the national regulator of the higher education sector in Australia. SAE Dubai graduates will receive an Australian qualification on completion of their studies. Details on the accreditation of this degree can be found on the TEQSA website

Elective unit is selected from any other bachelor course, trimester 1 or 2 units. Studios are professionally oriented production units modelled on real-world work environments.

Exit point options:

Option to complete your studies with an Associate Degree of Film after 160 credit points/first prescribed 16 units. The associate degree provides graduates with the basic core skills for entry into the industry, or to cross-skill into a related creative industry. Graduates will have broad technical knowledge and skills at a paraprofessional level.

Plan A (Full)- 24 Month Degree Program

  • Registration Fee AED 2,000 due at registration
  • Equipment Deposit Fee AED 2,000 (refundable at end of studies)
  • Resource Fee AED 9800* due at registration
  • Course Fee AED 120,000 (to be paid in 2 yearly equal installments- AED 60,000 X 2)
  • Total Fee AED 133,800**

Plan B (By Installments)- 24 Month Degree Program

  • Registration Fee AED 2,000 due at registration
  • Equipment Deposit Fee AED 2,000 (refundable at end of studies)
  • Resource Fee AED 9800* due at registration
  • Course Fee AED 22,000 x 6 (must provide 3 PDCs per year AED 22,000 each)
  • Total Fee AED 145,800**

Plan C*** (Monthly Installments)- 24 Month Degree Program

  • Registration Fee AED 2,000 due at registration
  • Equipment Deposit Fee AED 2,000 (refundable at end of studies)
  • Resource Fee AED 9800* due at registration
  • Course Fee AED 5,800 x 24 (must provide 12 PDCs per year AED 5,800 each)
  • Total Fee AED 153,000**

* In a unique arrangement between SAE Institute and Apple Computers, all Degree students are issued with an Apple Mac Book Pro machine, complete with software to meet the needs of their respective fields of study plus SAE course material. This compulsory fee must be paid at the time of registration.Resource fee is subject to change without notice and prices are valid at the time of enrollment and re-enrollment.

**Fees are indicative in that unit fees are charged according to the year the unit of study is commenced and are subject to annual adjustment. The total course fee quoted is based on the 2014 unit fees.
